What about us, cancer?

Have you ever had an experience that stopped you in your tracks and brought you back into the present moment?

Recently I had a busy busy week preparing to launch my DARE Cancer structured coaching community. I knew I needed to get out of my head, so I left my home office and went out for a walk. 

I was listening to a podcast, striding along, still stuck in my head. I felt a little nudge reminding me to slow down. As I was pulling my headphones out of my ears, an acorn hit me on the head and separated from its shell. 

I stopped short. First of all, it HURT! Second of all, it felt like a sign. 

A sign to slow down, to start listening, to return to the present moment. 

Acorns only appear on adult trees that are 20-50 years old - so the acorn is a symbol of patience and achievement.

As I remembered this, the rest of my walk was amazing. I was present in nature and open to receiving.

When I got back in my car, the P!nk song “What About Us” was playing … and I started bawling. 

The song reminded me of a coaching tool I teach in some of my workshops - that my clients listen to love songs with a new ear, as if the love song is sung from their higher self to their everyday self.

And so I heard these lyrics in a new light: 

What about us?

What about all the times you said you had the answers?

What about us?

What about all the broken happy ever afters?

What about us?

What about all the plans that ended in disaster?

What about love? What about trust?

What about us?

I heard my higher self saying, gently, You forgot about me. You forgot about our love story - the story that is loving you into a truer way of being.
